15-Inch MacBook Air to Reportedly Feature Apple M2 Chip
According to reports, Apple is getting ready to introduce a new 15-inch MacBook Air model. According to a recent report from DigiTimes, the forthcoming Apple notebook will not use the new M3 CPU, but rather the same M2 chipset that drives the 13-inch model.
The gadget, which Apple has reportedly already started mass producing, is anticipated to be released sometime in Q2 2023. This information comes in response to a previous statement made by display industry analyst Ross Young, who asserted that earlier this month, Apple's supply chain started producing display panels for a 15-inch MacBook Air.
Apple Choosing to Stick with the M2 Chip
While some industry insiders believed the 15-inch MacBook Air will employ a newer 3nm M23 chipset, the report says Apple will continue to use the M2 chipset for the time being. The newly upgraded 13-inch MacBook Air, which was unveiled at WWDC last year, already uses the M2 chip. Some industry watchers view the M2 chip as a temporary solution until the 3nm-based M3 chip is available.
The debut of a new 15-inch MacBook with M2 and M2 Pro chip options in the second quarter of 2023 or later was previously anticipated by Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Kuo did, however, speculate that the Air branding might not be included on this upcoming MacBook.
The allegedly upcoming 15-inch MacBook Air would have the biggest display size ever provided for this particular model. The new 15-inch MacBook Air represents a significant improvement because the current 13.3-inch and 13.6-inch models are the only ones offered.
