Don't worry if you recently updated to iOS 16 and are experiencing severe power drain concerns. It is frequent problem, particularly after updating to a significant iOS update. Here are some recommendations to assist extend the battery life of your iPhone and resolve battery drain concerns while using iOS 16 or iOS 16.2.

Your iPhone may experience troubles with battery drain on iOS 16 for a number of reasons. The iPhone firstly indexes a sizable amount of data in the background whenever you update iOS. In addition, iOS 16 is rife with issues. In addition to this, there are a few other things that cause excessive battery drain. However, the procedures listed below will assist you in resolving these problems.

1. Understand Your Battery Consumption Pattern

On their device, each person uses a particular set of apps and services. So, depending on how you use your iPhone, it can be different from how others use it. Therefore, you ought to look at the breakdown of battery utilisation.

You may view the battery utilisation for the previous 24 and 10 days on iOS. To increase battery life, you can examine which apps are using up the most power and ban certain apps. To check your battery use, go to Settings Battery.

2.  Turn Off Background App Refresh

Apps can refresh in the background when connected to the internet by enabling background app refresh. If not controlled properly, it immediately causes battery draining problems. You can entirely disable it or enable it to renew just when Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi & Mobile Data are active.
I suggested choosing only crucial apps to refresh in the background as an alternative.

The best choice, however, if extending battery life on iOS 16 is your top priority, is to turn off background app refresh.
Head to Settings → General → Background App Refresh → Background App Refresh → Off.

3. Disable Keyboard Haptics

Despite having one of the greatest vibration motors on the market, iOS users previously had to rely on third-party keyboard programmes to receive haptic feedback when typing. With iOS 16, that was altered, but it also meant that because the motor had to turn every time you typed, your iPhone would use more energy.
It's advised to disable this option if you notice that your iPhone's battery is depleting more quickly than usual after activating it.Head to Settings → Sounds & Haptics → Keyboard Feedback. Now turn off the Haptic toggle.

4. Switch Off Location Services

GPS, Bluetooth, and other tools are used by location services to pinpoint your precise location. Simply simply, the battery drain on your iPhone is caused by all these background processes.

Although you may entirely disable Location Services, it's preferable to make all apps ask for your location before using it. It is recommended to disable this feature on iOS 16 if you want to get the most out of your battery life.
To do so, head to Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services. Now, toggle off Location Services and tap Turn Off

5. Remove Widgets From the Lock Screen

Customizing the Lock Screen is a significant feature of iOS 16. What makes it so unique is the option to add widgets to the lock screen. However, widgets drain your iPhone's battery quickly.

To give the most recent data, they must continuously reload in the background. resulting in resource use that shortens battery life. You are left with no choice except to take these widgets off of the lock screen.

To do so, Tap and hold on the Lock Screen → Customize → Lock Screen. Now, tap on any widget and press the – icon to remove it

6. Disable Live Activities

Live Activities is an additional iOS 16 functionality, similar to Lock Screen widgets. App developers can create dynamic widgets that deliver real-time information to the Notification Centre by using Live Activities.

Again, this causes battery drain because it is always updating and presenting the most recent information. When your device is locked, you can entirely disable it to stop this from happening.
Head to Settings → Face ID & Passcode. Navigate to Live Activities and toggle it off.

Head to Settings → Face ID & Passcode. Navigate to Live Activities and toggle it off.

 7. Calibrate 5G Settings

The fifth generation of mobile service, or 5G, employs cutting-edge technology to deliver faster speeds. However, the price is a quick battery depletion.

It features newer technology, thus in an ideal world, it should offer greater battery backup than its predecessor. It does not, sadly. The network is less broad than LTE/4G, which forces your iPhone to constantly search for and cling to weak connections.
To prevent this from happening, iOS allows you to manage 5G settings. Head to Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data Options → Voice & Data. Select LTE to completely disable 5G. You can also select 5G Autoas it will only connect to 5G when it does not significantly impact the battery life

8. Turn Off Automatic App Downloads and Updates

Thanks to the Automatic App Download feature, any apps you install on your iPhone will automatically be installed on any other devices linked to the same iCloud account. Additionally, all of these apps will receive automatic updates.

One of the factors contributing to people's adoration for Apple's ecosystem is both of these settings. Despite this, it's still preferable to switch them off if you have problems with battery drain.
To do so, head to  Settings → App Store. Toggle off App Downloads, App Updates, and In-App Content located under Automatic Downloads.

9. Enable Low Power Mode

The battery life of iPhones is recognised to be increased via Low Power Mode. In order to maximise battery life, it stops background app refresh, automatic downloads, etc.

You must activate Low Power Mode as soon as possible if you are outside or know it will be some time before you can recharge your iPhone.Head to Settings → Battery. Now, toggle on the Low Power Mode option. You can also enable Low Power Mode by tapping on its icon in the Control Center.

. Disable Auto-Playing Videos (App Store & Safari)

The App Store has auto-playing videos for games and apps, which might be helpful in particular circumstances. However, Safari's auto-playing movies are just unpleasant. Even though both of these judgements are purely subjective, the truth remains that both of these functions drain the battery. Aside from that, immediately turn them off if you want to conserve battery.
To disable Auto-Playing Videos in App Store, head to  Settings → App Store → Video Autoplay. Now, select the Off option.
