Who IS Joey de Leon

Joey de Leon is a Filipino comedian, actor, television host, and songwriter who was born Jose Maria Ramos de Leon Jr. on October 14, 1946. He is the host of the variety programme Eat Bulaga! He is a member of the comedic trio Tito, Vic, and Joey, which has produced a number of comedic films and television programmes.

• 1. Early Life 

  De Leon was the second child born of Spanish Filipino descent Jose Seoane de Leon (1918–2008) and Emma Manahan Ramos (1925–2019). His paternal grandpa served as Bulacan's first mayor of Malolos. He went through a divorce when he was three years old. After that, his father relocated to Madrid, Spain, and eventually wed again.
  
  

  2. Career

  De Leon studied architecture at the National University of Manila before becoming a performer. When he first started out, he worked as a DJ for 12 radio stations. As a radio broadcaster and disc jockey in the 1960s, De Leon launched his showbiz career. He was employed by twelve radio stations, including all seven of the ones controlled by the ABS-CBN Corporation and additional broadcasters like KBS. His huge TV debut came thanks to the comedy programme OK Lang on IBC 13.

  Five kids reside with De Leon. Joseph Joachim ("Keempee") and Jacinda Myrtle ("Cheenee") are two from his marriage to actress Daria Ramirez, while Jocas Eightria, Jako Raphaelle, and Jio Sebastian are three from his marriage to current wife Eileen Macapagal. There are a total of six grandchildren for De Leon. One from Keempee, one from Jako, and four from his oldest daughter Cheenee.

  Pepsi Paloma gang rape case

  
  
  On June 21, 1982, at a room at the Sulo Hotel in Quezon City, 15-year-old actress Pepsi Paloma accused de Leon and fellow comedians Vic Sotto and Richie D'Horsie of gang raping her and taking pictures of her. Rey dela Cruz, the manager of Paloma, officially complained to Juan Ponce Enrile, the defence minister, on July 31. Paloma accused the three television celebrities of rape and acts of lasciviousness on August 18, 1982, in front of the fiscal's office in Quezon City. When rape was still punishable by death in the Philippines, Tito Sotto hurried to visit Paloma while she was still retaining the services of Atty. to save his brother and his accomplices from the electric chair. Cayetano Rene Paloma claims that Tito Sotto forced her to sign a "Affidavit of Desistance" in order to dismiss the rape allegations against his brother and accomplices. Tito Sotto is said to have put a gun on the table in front of Paloma before approaching her.
  
  

  Depression comments

  Following a comment he made about depression during the Eat Bulaga! segment "Juan for All, All for Juan," in which he said, in part, that the mental disorder is "just something made up by people" and that "they do it to themselves," de Leon stirred up controversy among Filipino internet users and prominent figures who support mental health awareness on October 5, 2017. The following day, he expressed regret.
