The iPhone now has Focus mode, updated Memoji, Facetime upgrades, and more thanks to iOS 15, which was introduced by Apple last September. The company also unveiled iPadOS 15, which included many of the new features found in the iPhone while also introducing some new ones. There are some cool, time-tested techniques out there that you might not be aware of.
1. Split keyboard
The split keyboard lets you type using just your thumbs. Here is how to activate it: Go to Settings > General > Keyboard and toggle the switch next to Split Keyboard to the right to enable it.
2. Use your iPad as a second display
Multitasking can be made easier and more productive with a second monitor. You may extend or mirror your computer's display using your iPad as a second display.
Here is how to configure Sidecar on your Mac so that it can work wirelessly or while your iPad is charging:
Use the same Apple ID to log into iCloud on your iPad and Mac.
Choose your iPad from the menu by selecting the Display option in Control Center or the menu bar.
You can select the option to move a window to your iPad display by hovering your pointer over the window's full-screen button.
3. Focus
Focus mode filters out the notifications and apps you don’t need to see at the moment. Here’s how to turn it on:
- Go to Settings > Focus.
- Tap a provided Focus option like Do Not Disturb, Personal, or Sleep, then turn on the Focus.
- After you choose a Focus, select options like Allowed Notifications, Time Sensitive Notifications, and Focus Status.
From Control Center, you can also activate Focus. This is how: On your iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad, launch Control Center, touch and hold Focus, then choose the Focus you wish to turn on.
4. Multitasking gestures
You may quickly see the app switcher, open another app, or go back to the Home Screen with multitasking gestures:
Swipe up from the iPad's bottom edge, hold your finger there until the app switcher displays, and then release it. Scroll through the apps with a left or right swipe.
Swipe four or five fingers left or right across your screen while using an app to navigate to a different one.
To return to the Home Screen while using an app, swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen or press and hold the screen with five fingers.
5. Set up widgets
You may obtain immediate information from widgets right on your home screen:
On your Home Screen, press and hold an empty space before tapping the Add button.
From the list, choose a widget.
To select a size for the widget, swipe left or right on it. Then hit Add Widget.
Tap Done or your Home Screen to finish.
6. Write notes using an Apple pencil
Even when your iPad is locked, you may instantly jot down a note with an Apple Pencil from any location. With your Apple Pencil, you may swipe up from the bottom right corner of the screen to create a Quick Note. You have saved your work in Notes.
7. Share Safari tabs across devices
The open tabs in Safari on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac are synced using iCloud. As a result, you can start a tab on one device and finish it on another. Setup is simple:
On your iPad, go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud.
Go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Apple ID > iCloud on your Mac. Launch Safari.
On your iPad, launch Safari, then tap the Tabs button. You may see a list of the tabs that are open on your other devices by scrolling to the bottom of the list. You can perform the same action on your iPhone and Mac.
8. Drag and drop
You can copy elements from one programme to another and move text, photos, and other items throughout the app using drag and drop. As simple as using your finger.
If the object is text, pick it first before touching and holding it till it rises up. Drag it to a different place in the programme.
Touch and hold the item until it lifts up after opening two items in Split View or Slide Over (if the item is text, pick it first). To copy it, drag it to the other app.
9. Record the screen
You can capture everything that appears on your iPad's screen, including audio:
Select "Settings > Control Center," then "Plus Icon," and select "Screen Recording."
Activate Control Center, select the screen record icon (it looks like a solid circle inside of another circle), and then wait for the three-second countdown.
Open Control Center, tap the red status bar at the top of the screen or the screen record icon to stop recording.
10. Keep it tidy with the App Library
The Dock's built-in App Library categorises your apps into categories like Productivity, Recently Added, and Games. The bigger symbols represent the programmes you use the most.
Directly from the App Library, you can perform searches and launch apps. Just hit the search bar and enter the app's name.
